Final Series of Apocalypse photos

February 18th, 2009 Bwana Bill Posted in Apocalypse, Warhammer 40K Comments Off

Here is our last installment of our recent Apocalypse action. In the first photo is Eldarmeister Tom's Eldar Avatar. Then in the next photo, there he is again, but this time he is going down fighting surrounded by a horde of Orkmeister Karl's bloodthirsty Orks!

The third photo shows one of the Ork Stompas closing in on an unfortunate IG tank. "Come to Papa!" he says!

Last, but not least, you see two of the three Stompas casually strolling through the armored "gun line" like they are out looking for daisies to pick! In the back of the same photo you can see the unit of Ork "Tank Annoyer" boys trying to appear as though they still matter!

Baneblade tank rumbles forward!

January 27th, 2009 Bwana Bill Posted in Apocalypse, Warhammer 40K Comments Off

OK, I have told you this before. Every once in a while we escape from reality and digress from historical gaming into science fiction. So last Sunday the gang got together to put together a Warhammer 40,00 Apocalypse game and for the first time in 13 months we had an opportunity to pull our super-heavy Baneblade tank out of the garage, load her up on the transporter and send her into action against the infidels. And here she is! Rumbling into action! The earth shakes, and the enemy shakes with fear! Stay tuned to this channel and we will show you more of the action in the coming days!

Take Out that Baneblade!

January 20th, 2008 Bwana Bill Posted in Apocalypse, Warhammer 40K Comments Off

Even though it was not contesting an objective, the Eldar fixated on reducing the Baneblade on the Imperial right flank to flaming junk. We counted approximately a dozen or more lascannon equivalent (or whatever those damned Eldar things are called!) hits on the Baneblade. Look at all the hit markers on that thing! By the end of turn two the Baneblade had only one structure point left and only one heavy bolter mount functioning. It definitely would not have survived another turn. Fortunately we ran out of time so there were no more turns!

- Here's is the whole battle area. What a confrontation, 8,000 points per side!
- Then we see the Eldar/Imperial tank battle.
- Lastly, an Ork Stompa casts its "gaze" on an Imperial Baneblade.

Eldar Swarm Attack

Here you can see the Eldar swarm attack that developed on the left flank of the Ork-Eldar army. I'm an idiot when it comes to Eldar; I can't identify any of these things.

Latest Apocalypse Game

January 10th, 2008 Bwana Bill Posted in Apocalypse, Warhammer 40K Comments Off

Okay, over the next few days we will be displaying photos from our latest Apocalypse game that transpired back on December 30th. You will see amazing things that you will no where else! There will be scratch-built Thunderhawks, two scratch-built Ork Stompas, and a scratch-built Big Mek Stompa. You will see vintage Armorcast war machines. You will see huge lumbering super heavy battle tanks. You will see carnage and destruction on an unprecedented scale! What more could you possibly ask for?

Just for starters, take a look at these two photos. First you will see a vintage Armorcast Warhound Scout Titan that came out of a long retirement to show us what war in the 41st Millennium is really like! Then you will see a scratch-built Thunderhawk gunship in the second photo. Check back for more because this is only the beginning! Who knows? We may even give the ever-popular "Bell of Lost Souls" blog a run for its money! :-) (Not likely)

Still More Apocalypse!

December 31st, 2007 Bwana Bill Posted in Apocalypse, Warhammer 40K Comments Off

Well, we had another big game yesterday, so with this post I'm clearing out all the pictures from the game we had a month ago. I should point out that the third picture shows my Chaos horde throwing themselves at an Ork Stompa with insane fury. Um, they failed, they failed miserably. One of these days we are going to have to figure out how to kill one of those things.

More Apocalypse Action

December 28th, 2007 Bwana Bill Posted in Apocalypse, Warhammer 40K Comments Off

Here are some more great shots of the scratch built vehicles that appeared our last Apocalypse battle. The first picture is a Baneblade tank that has been looted by the Orks. Then we have a Stompa stomping a bunch of Khorne Berserkers. The third picture shows some Ork Lehman Russ tanks and then last, but not least, we have an Ork Fighta Bomma swooping in on the Chaos horde to deliver a stick of bombs.

The (in)Famous Painting Table

December 21st, 2007 El Bandito Posted in Apocalypse, Wargaming, Warhammer 40K Comments Off

Here are a few shots of what is on my painting table at the moment. I'm working on three different jobs for other folks that were due about five (yup!) years ago, plus trying to throw together some Space Wolves Space Marines for Warhammer 40K, Apocalypse!

Pardon the mess, it is, after all, a construction zone!

APOCALYPSE! NOW!

December 21st, 2007 Bwana Bill Posted in Apocalypse, Warhammer 40K Comments Off

You gotta check out the unstoppable horde of scratch built Ork vehicles that showed up for our last Apocalypse game! There's a big Battlewagon, a Stompa, a Spleenrippa (or is it a Bowelburna? I forget)a bunch of Wartrakks and a variety of other nasty little customers! Yeah sure, it made for a "target rich environment" alright, but then it comes down to the most difficult question: can you kill them off fast enough? In this case we didn't!

“Clash of the Titans”

October 10th, 2007 Bwana Bill Posted in Apocalypse, Warhammer 40K Comments Off

Well I do of course dabble in Warhammer 40,000 as well. Quite a bit actually, I just have not been writing about it much.

This week a new book called "Apocalypse" is being released and it will have rules for forming big battles that include the huge vehicles like Baneblade tanks, Warlord Titans, and Ork Stompas. My friend Carl is a very talented scratch builder and he built this Stompa for me quite a while ago. If you read "White Dwarf" magazine you may have seen that his scratch built Ork army was given a two page color spread a couple years ago. This is something that "White Dwarf" does very seldom, so it was quite an honor.

So now with the new book coming out the Stompa has been sent back to the garage for modifications to its weapons suites that will make it compatible with "Apocalypse." And, this coming Friday it will be comitted to battle for the very first time at the Games Workshop store in Springfield, Virginia. In this picture it is showing off its new weapons arms. (I should have placed something next to it for reference because it stands about 10 inches tall.) But, there is still more to come, the Mekboys are frantically working to get the missiles and the "big shoota" turret installed by Friday. Let's hope it goes well! You know what happens when Orks build things, they can be prone to breakdowns and of course in this case they are in a hurry, which really has me worried. Let's hope it's not reduced to molten slag in it's debut'! Fortunately the Ork army will be commanded by Orkmeister Carl himself, not me. This means that breakdowns or not, the enemies of Orkdom are in for some rough handling! Unfortunately I will not be there myself to see how it goes but I'll post an after action on it anyway.
